Polynucleotides

 Polynucleotides Treatment

What areas can polynucleotides treat?

Polynucleotides can be used anywhere you have skin, this includes upper and lower eyelids which is generally a no-go area when it comes to injectables. Common areas for treatment include:

  • Saggy neck

  • Eye bags, loose skin on the upper lids

  • Dark circles

  • General skin improvement on the face- wrinkles, pores, acne, hyper-pigmentation, rosacea.

  • Chest

  • Scars from acne, surgery, or trauma.

  • Loose skin on the arms or abdomen.

Polynucleotides (or PDRN) are an injectable bio-stimulator used to improve wrinkles, pigmentation, scarring, pores and overall skin health. They are natural substances derived from salmon or trout DNA and have been used widely in the healthcare for around 20 years to help heal wounds and manage scarring.

The treatment takes place at our beautiful Cheltenham clinic. We pride ourselves on providing treatments that make you look refreshed, without it being obvious to others.

Why your skin will love Polynucleotides

Smooths and Firms: Treats fine lines and sagging on the face, neck or body. Polynucleotides help smooth out your skin and give it a firmer texture.

How do Polynucleotides work?

Think of polynucleotides as your skin's best friend—they stimulate collagen production and help your skin regenerate itself. Collagen is like the building block of youthful skin, giving it that firm, elastic feel. Polynucleotides boost collagen and bring back that youthful glow, effectively making your skin look and behave like much younger skin.

Polynucleotides attach to and stimulate our FIBROBLAST cells. These cells are responsible for producing the supportive elements within our skin, the collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid. When injected, the Polynucleotides lock onto these cells, effectively supercharging them. The treatment also triggers even more fibroblast cells to be produced. As a result, we not only have cells that are working more effectively, but there are much more of them.

What should I expect after polynucleotide treatment?

This treatment involves lots of tiny injections very superficially in the skin to ensure the product is evenly distributed in the area of concern.

First 24 hours- redness, lots of small bumps and some mild swelling is normal. Any redness has usually resolved within around 12 hours, although for those with sensitive skin, this may persist a little longer. Bruising is unusual with this treatment due to the superficial placement of the product.

24-48 hours - the bumps will have mostly faded by now.

2-3 days - skin is generally back to normal by this stage

4-6 weeks - improvement in skin health, appearance and increased collagen levels visible

6-12 weeks - levels of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid are expected to progressively peak during this time with maximum results visible at 12 weeks for most.

**6 months- maintenance treatment recommended**

How long do Polynucleotides last?

The results are expected to last around 6 months. I recommend a single maintenance treatment at this stage. A course of 2-3 treatments, one every 2 weeks is recommended for optimum results. More treatments may be recommended if your skin issue is severe.

Is Polynucleotide treatment painful?

It can be a little uncomfortable although this will vary from one person to the next. Numbing cream is applied prior to treatment to alleviate any discomfort. You can help to self-manage any discomfort by arriving well rested, hydrated, and by keeping stress levels to a minimum on the day of treatment. You can also take some paracetamol 2 hours before; ibuprofen or aspirin are not recommended as these may increase your risk of bruising.

Can I have polynucleotides with other treatments such as botox and dermal fillers?

Yes, polynucleotides work fantastically well with botox, dermal fillers, skinboosters, and other treatments, some can even be performed on the same day. In fact, it has been shown that polynucleotides can enhance the results and longevity of other treatments. For example, collagen stimulating treatments such as chemical peels, microneedling and radiofrequency microneedling will be more effective due to the preconditioned skin, and the increased number of fibroblasts to make collagen.
